Minuet in G Major

A short, courtly dance in triple time, long attributed to Bach but now believed to be by Christian Petzold — it survives because an 8-year-old Johann Sebastian copied it into his second wife Anna Magdalena's keyboard notebook. Two centuries later it's still one of the first real pieces most piano students ever learn.

Keep the eighth notes even and the phrasing in clean two-bar breaths — it's a dance, so a steady pulse matters more than volume. A good first piece for practicing hands-together coordination at a comfortable tempo.
