About this edition
The fifth piece of Book I of Grieg's Lyric Pieces, Op. 12 (1867), titled "Folkevise" (Folk Song) -- a brooding, minor-key evocation of Norwegian folk melody, more harmonically searching than its modest title implies.
Voice the melody note on top of each chord clearly above the inner harmony -- the morendo (dying away) markings ask for real dynamic control, not just a soft ending.
